Music Garlic (sometimes referred to as Musica) was named by the Ontario Garlic Growers Association in recognition of Al Music (a former tobacco farmer), who brought this Italian variety back to Canada in the 1980’s.
Music, a Porcelain variety, is a very cold hardy garlic. It has an incredible garlic flavor when eaten raw or cooked, and is one of the most popular for home gardeners because it can grow to good size, it is easy to cultivate, is highly resistant to disease and (like all Porcelain garlics) stores very well. Produces between 4 and 6 easy to peel large cloves per bulb, with a shiny-white sheath and pink-tinged clove skins.
Music garlic offers a lasting sweet and pungent flavour that can be hot and aggressive when eaten raw. When cooked, Music loses all of its heat, which enables the sweet flavours of this garlic to come to the forefront.
